CRYNODEB
Wrth deithio drwy wastadiroedd Kazakhstan a gwledydd eraill yr hen
weriniaeth Sofietaidd, mae teulu syrcas nomadig yn trawsnewid y tirlun
diffaith i fyd hudol wrth berfformio i grwp bychan o bentrefwyr a theithwyr
eraill.

BYWGRAFFIAD
Fe anwyd ym 1962 yn Chimkent, Kazakhstan. Ar ôl astudio hedfan
awyrennau yn yr Iwcrain, gweithiodd fel peiriannydd yn Kazakhstan tra
yn astudio yn adran radiotechenegol yn Novosibirsk's Institute.
Astudio yn y Highest Courses ar gyfer ysgrifennwyr sgript
a cyfarwyddwyr ffilm yn Moscow o 1990-93. Enillodd ei ffilm gyntaf Paradise(1995)
wobr anrhydedd yn y New Asian Currents YIDFF'97 ac yn San Francisco, Nyon,
Stuttgart, Kiev, St. Petersburg, Leipzig, a Cinema du Reel Paris. Fe enillodd
ei ail ffilm Bread Day (1997) llawer o wobrau a gafodd ei
enwebu am Wobr Joris Ivens Prize yn Amsterdam yn 1998. Ei drydydd ffilm
yw Highway.

Based on the novel by Vladimir Nabokov, Despair is set against the backdrop
of the Nazis' rise to power in the thirties. Hermann Hermann, a Russian
émigré and owner of a failing candy factory is at his wit's
end. When he finds his empty-headed wife dallying with her ne'er do well
cousin, he decides to opt out completely by switching identities with
a double. The only trouble is, his so-called double bears him no resemblance.

Ghost
in the Shell

Ghost In The Shell is the major film by Japanese director Mamoru Oshii,
who is considred as one of the most brilliant directors of the young generation
in Japan.
Mamoru Oshiis work has made a strong impression in anime through
its graphic beauty, but also because of his talent to involve the audience
by showing the absurdities and breakdown of current society.
Ghost in the Shell was critically acclaimed internationally and is a Porto
ScienceFiction Film Festival award winner 1997.
This film explores themes that inspired Andy and Lany Wachowski who created
THE MATRIX.
Ghost in the Shell stands out among many other manga animations due to
the high quality of production, and the story involved. It appears to
be aimed at a slightly older audience than most of the Anime films that
are imported by the West, partly due to having a story with a deeper meaning
than is typical of the genre.
Also the central character, Motoko, is shown as an older woman than is
typical in Japanese animations. In most animations the central female
character will appear, and also speak in a very childlike way. Unlike
characters Motoko speaks with an adult voice, and doesnt have the
same large eyes and small nose.
Reinforcing the idea that the main characters are living inside dead shells
of metal helps to give a feeling of claustrophobia, which is assisted
by use of shots with the background moving behind characters when they
speak.
Also a feeling of ghostliness is added by unconventional use of sound
track. During scenes of high action, rather than using fast music, instead
there is a slow, haunting soundtrack.
