Alternative Film Nights ~ April 2007 20 April 2007, Betws y Coed Memorial Hall, doors 7pm Kairo Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Japan, 110 mins, 2001
Often
referred to as
one of the scariest films ever made, Kairo (also distributed under the
title Pulse) tells the story of a group of young friends rocked by the
sudden suicide of one of their own, and his subsequent, ghostly
reappearance in grainy computer and video images. Is their friend
trying to contact them from beyond the grave, or is there something
much more sinister afoot? PLUS
short films including: The Moment Before
Alvaro Zendejas, 2004, Mexico, 2.33mins UK Premiere Monster
Jennifer Kent, 2002, Australia, 10.17mins
Deadley Tantrum Mike Mort, 2006, Wales, 5 mins Please note that Kairo is a powerful and unsettling film and carries a 15 certificate. Of the short films neither ‘Deadly Tantrum’ or ‘The Moment Before’ have been classified but both are quite graphic and definately not suitable for younger viewers. PLUS compere Gwdihŵ the Ghost
